Diagnosing Shinjiru IP Blacklist & Spam Issues

4 min readBy JagaWeb Technical Team

How to identify if your Shinjiru shared IP is on Spamhaus or Barracuda blacklists, and the steps to request a clean dedicated IP.

Why Your Emails Are Going to Spam

Shinjiru is a popular offshore hosting provider in Malaysia, known for privacy and leniency. However, this attracts bad actors. If you are on a Shinjiru shared hosting plan, you share an IP address with hundreds of other websites. If one of them sends spam, the entire IP gets blacklisted on RBLs (Real-time Blackhole Lists) like Spamhaus, Barracuda, or SORBS.

When this happens, emails sent from your domain via cPanel will bounce back or land straight in Gmail's spam folder.

1. Checking Your IP Blacklist Status

First, find your server's sending IP. You can find this in cPanel under Server Information, or by pinging your mail server:

ping mail.yourdomain.com

Take that IP address (e.g., 103.x.x.x) and check it against MXToolbox's Blacklist Check. If you see red crosses next to Spamhaus ZEN or Barracuda, your IP is burned.

2. Identifying the Spam Source (If You Are on a VPS)

If you have a Shinjiru VPS and your IP is blacklisted, your server is the source of the spam. Check the Exim mail queue to see what is being sent:

exim -bp | exiqsumm

To view the headers of a specific spam message in the queue:

exim -Mvh [MESSAGE_ID]

Usually, this points to a compromised WordPress plugin sending PHP mail. Find the malicious script:

grep -R "mail(" /home/username/public_html/

3. The Permanent Fix: Clean Dedicated IP & SMTP Relay

If you are on shared hosting, requesting a delisting from Spamhaus is futile because another user will just get the IP blacklisted again tomorrow.

You must contact Shinjiru support and purchase a Dedicated IP address. Once assigned, ensure your PTR record (Reverse DNS) matches your server hostname.

Alternatively, bypass the server's IP entirely by routing your outbound emails through an SMTP relay like SendGrid, Amazon SES, or Mailgun.

Don't let blacklisted IPs ruin your client communication. We've rescued companies like Agros Empire from severe email deliverability crises. Stop relying on shared IPs for critical business operations.
